How Eco Happy started
Araatrika started in 2017 with a small exhibition stall of handcrafted recycled products, made by our founder, Ar. Jagruti Khabiya Jain. It has grown into a team of eight women (and counting) working out of a workshop in Parvati Paytha, Pune, hand-rolling newspaper into seed pencils and making seed paper, upcycled-fabric and plantable festive products.
What we actually do
Plastic-free, start to finish
Seed pencils, seed paper, plantable rakhis and kites, upcycled diaries and bags. Every product and its packaging skips plastic entirely.
Rolled and made by hand
A team of eight women hand-rolls old newspaper into seed pencils and assembles every product in our Parvati Paytha workshop.
Designed to be planted
The part you're done with goes back into soil, not a bin. Seed pencils, seed paper and seed rakhis all carry real, viable seeds.
Claims we can stand behind
If we say plastic-free or plantable, that's true of the exact product you receive, not a line borrowed for marketing.
Meet the founder
Ar. Jagruti Khabiya Jain
An architect (Savitribai Phule Pune University) who worked in Auroville and Delhi before founding Araatrika in Pune. She leads the team that designs, makes and ships everything on this site.
Honesty over impact math
We won't publish an impact number we can't measure yet
A lot of sustainable brands print numbers like "100+ trees saved." We took ours down. We don't have a verified, audited count of trees, plastic or waste diverted per order yet, so showing one would be a guess dressed up as a fact. What we can show you is how we actually work, and a calculator built on published, sourced emission factors, clearly labelled as an estimate, not our own measured data.
